May Meeting – Recap

We had a fun meeting for May that included our first fabric swap! We also had several tiny visitors 🙂

We opened with a finance report from Rosie Summers. Followed by show & tell.

We shared a quick video of Heather Jones from the Creative Bug website. It’s always interesting to see how someone develops their quilts especially in a modern style.

Gloria Sews is offering a weekly sit-and-sew on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-12:00. It’s a great way to become more familiar with your machine and sewing, work on your own projects in a community, or follow along with the weekly sewing projects. Cost is $20/session.

Row by Row Experience is happening this summer. Stores all across the country as well as several in our area are participating. Take a look at the website as well as the North Carolina Facebook page.

Upcoming Programming:

  • June: Gloria Sews will present a demo using a scrappy ruler. Candy Minton will also be providing information for our first block swap!
  • July: No Monday night meeting — the meeting will be held at our quilt retreat
  • August: Gina from Trailer Stash Fabrics will have her trailer for us to shop in and will also be doing a trunk show of her modern quilts

Quilt Retreat:

The retreat has been rescheduled. We’re looking at Saturday, July 11th. As mentioned above, it will also be our July meeting. Please put that on your calendars and if you can go ahead and let me know if you plan to attend or not so I can get a head count as early as possible.

We ended our meeting with a fabric scrap swap! It was a blind swap using a “left/right” game. Everyone walked away with new scraps to add to their stash.
